The political turmoil in Thailand is troubling. I don't know why this kind of thing goes on but the first thing to happen when political turmoil brews up is that tourists stop visiting that country.
It happened a couple of years ago in Kenya. It's happening to Greece now. And the same will happen to Thailand.
Usually these are short term problems, but the world is a competitive place and countries all over the world are desparate for foreign tourists to visit their country. Greece's loss is Croatias gain. The problem is that tourists who would have gone to Greece go to Croatia instead, realise how much nicer it is than Greece, then never return. Maybe this it Thailand's fate. Vietnam, Laos, and to a certain extent China are going to gain from Thailand's woes.
I suspect I would be unwise to look for a Thai wife at this time. Hopefully the country can sort itself out before something more serious like a civil war breaks out.

Introduction agency or dating website?
When looking for an asian wife online, there are basically two options:
The first option is to find an introduction agency to help you with your search for an asian wife. I've had a look at some of the online introduction agencies. As far as my searching goes, I managed to find introduction agencies that can help with your search for a Thai wife or a Japanese wife. I'm not sure if there are any introduction agencies for Chinese ladies or Filipino ladies. I'll have to do some more searching.
The Thai introduction agencies look quite professional. Most of them are run by British or American expats. I find that reassuring. I'm not yet sure if I want a Thai wife though. I'll have to think things over.
The alternative to introduction agencies is to simply sign up to one of the dating websites and go it alone. I might try this approach for now. I've read stories of scam ladies so I'll be careful. Thankfully I've been on the Internet for years, so I'm wise to a lot of the usual scams that go on.
I'm not sure how you choose a good online dating site - there are so many to choose from!

I'm not sure if this is the right approach for me, as I'm nervous about meeting people in person - I'd rather get to know them online a bit first. Also some of these escorted tours are quite expensive. At the end of the day do you really know if the ladies they're introducing you to at these events are really available for marriage and looking for Western husbands? What if they've just been paid a few dollars to come along for the night to look pretty and talk to guys?

My first trip to Asia - wow!
I made my first ever trip to Asia in October 2006. I'd always heard that Asia was a pretty cool place to visit. For my first visit I chose somewhere relatively safe and easy to explore - Hong Kong.
I wasn't disappointed - Hong Kong is a magnificent tourist destination. Many people only visit Hong Kong for a few days, usually as a stopover on the way to Australia, New Zealand or Bali. This is a shame, as Hong Kong has a lot to offer. I was there for almost a fortnight, yet I didn't run out of things to see and do.
Here are some highlights of my trip to Hong Kong:
Hong Kong is easy to get around thanks to the cheap and efficient public transport. This was my first introduction to the incredibly efficient public transportation networks that exist in many Asian countries.
The 10,000 Buddha Monastery was really interesting, even if the footpath leading to it was behind an Ikea superstore! The walk up the steep steps was hard work in the sub-tropical heat.
Snoopy World in Sha Tin new town was a bizzare but fun place to visit.
The Ocean Park theme park was well worth a visit, especially as they have two Giant Pandas!
Cheung Chau island was one of my favourite places in Hong Kong - it's a short ferry ride away from Hong Kong Island.
My first trip to Asia was a total success! I was hooked. I did not know it, but I would return to Asia the following year...

Since I was a boy I've been captivated by the beauty of asian ladies. Now I've become pretty successful in my career it's time to think about settling down.
I am looking for a lovely asian girl who wants to be my wife. Will I find my special somebody? I'm not sure, but I'm sure she's out there somewhere.
